A Family Portrait at Millbrook Resort with the Rossi-Shroffs
Contacted by Sarah, to capture some family portraits at Millbrook Resort we knew we had to be flexible and fun working around an 18 month old. We under-estimated this little one’s love of golf indeed. Much to his Grandpas admiration, himself a keen golfer.
We started off with a warm up of cuddles with mum, I actually got lucky with a spontaneous and unusually bold cuddle for me, ah I melt when those moments happen but when you think about it we are about to spend an hour pointing a camera at children and their families so a little chat about ducks and greeting is a natural way if children are willing to start off a shoot. Cameras out and we progress to a feeding the ducks a pot of peas as recommended by management. A repeat activity so our little chap shows his confidence and knowledge with a mum and dad in supporting roles.
HIs dad had a sack of mini clubs at the ready as we headed across to a putting green with views of the Crown Range Terrace as our backdrop. Setting up a quick flash we used the balance of some Rembrant light positioning to cross light faces with the balance of the hot New Zealand sunlight to their backs. Two of us working with different lenses means one of us is able to capture side moments and the family can also split so we work well naturally as you interact. Mum and Dad got to have their photograph together whilst Noni pushed her grandson on the swing for example.
As tired little eyes snuggled into his mama for a few final shots in the shade of one of Millbrooks original farm sheds I smiled with the satisfaction that time was well spent and a capture had been achieved. You were a joy to meet, enjoy New Zealand!
