Mt. Dewar
Mt. Dewar
Nestled in the upper regions of Mt. Dewar lies this beautiful lake. Sheltered on almost every side it makes for an etherial stopping point along the track, not actually that far from the start.
Very early in the morning towards the beginning of the lunar month hosting Matariki, the sky is dark and the track well trodden. It forms the point at which an eBike becomes a liability rather than an asset.
Rehua (Antares) has just dipped behind the descending ridge of Mt. Dewar to the West, as Puanga and Mattariki are preparing themselves to rise in the East.
On this occasion, this was as far as the journey lead along this track. The contrast of the snow and tussock warms and cools simultaneously, whilst the lines all lead towards the stunning centre of oour galaxy.
