Moonset Behind the Thomson’s

Moonset Behind the Thomson’s

Many would say that if you’re going to shoot astro then you need as little light and clouds as possible. At the end of the day, it gets darker. Photography is about capturing light, be it directly from source, reflected from surfaces and after it’s passed through objects.

As the moon sets, just as when the sun sets, incredible things often happen with the light we see. When the moon sets after the sun has set, the amount of light we can see with our naked eyes is considerably less than when the sun sets. The art of long exposure photography allows us to make the most of this smaller amount of light.

The stars are still visible, as is a faint amount of air glow and the slight cloud adds to the scene. These majestic mountains stand tall over this strong body of water. There’s a connection here, it’s incredibly powerful and speaks in matters of a universal scale.

All of us are on our own journeys and these connections support us along the way. But first we must choose to accept that we’ve noticed the connection, only then can we start to hear for the details.
