The Lindis pass is an iconic mountain pass in Aotearoa (New Zealand). During the day, it’s easy to see why, the road passing through the most incredibly soft tussock covered rolling ridges leading to high pointed peaks.

Spring brings the lupins, and very probably the main reason The Lindis has become so well known. In winter, the road conditions give many a driver a few causes for concern. At night, most people have no idea what an amazing sight surrounds them beyond the illuminated road from their headlights.

Park up, and go for a wee walk and the Universe slots itself into place on top of this wondrous 360 degree jaw dropping landscape. If you get really lucky, Ngā Kurakurai o Hinenuitepō (the Aurora Australis) will add some colour to the incredible dark sky.
